Step 1

Set up the helper

Start a free profile, buy Lag Proof in its Monitoring tab, and paste one command on a PC, Mac or Raspberry Pi that stays on. About 10 minutes.

Step 2

Play as usual

For 7 days the helper times your router and the internet around the clock, and alerts you when lag spikes.

Step 3

Get the report

A PDF that says where the lag builds up, with dates and numbers, and what was measured against what.

What the report shows

  • Where the lag builds up: your home, your line when it's busy, or beyond your line
  • Latency idle and under load, jitter and packet loss, and whether evenings are worse
  • Speeds against your advertised plan, and every outage with its start time and length
  • Plain wording you can attach to a support ticket

What you need

  • A device that stays on at home for the week: a Windows PC, a Mac, a Raspberry Pi or a NAS
  • Ideally plugged into the router with a cable, so it measures your line rather than your Wi-Fi
  • About 10 minutes to paste one command. No Docker and no admin rights needed on Windows or Mac

A laptop works if it stays plugged in and doesn't sleep. On Wi-Fi, the report shows your Wi-Fi as part of "home", which is often where the lag is.

Questions

What if the lag is inside my home?
Then the report says so. Lag from Wi-Fi, an overloaded router or a busy line (bufferbloat) is usually fixable by you, and we link the fix. We won't tell you to blame your provider for something they can't change.
Is it a subscription?
No. You pay $9 once. Your profile gets Plus for 8 days (a day to set up, then 7 days of measurements), then goes back to Free on its own. The report stays downloadable.
What if it doesn't help?
Ask within 14 days of buying and we refund it in full.
What do you store?
Test results (speeds, latency, loss), when they ran and the network name Cloudflare reports. Never your IP address, and nothing about what you browse or play.
